Event details

20 years ago, on the 12th of February 2000, we realized a dream we’d been dreaming for some time; to start our very own goth & industrial club. At Stengade30 on this date we held the very first The Black Cat event ever; with Snuff Pop Inc on stage and DJs Demented and Caligari setting fire to the dance floor. The event was a great success with approx 200 guests and a full dance floor large parts of the night.

The Black Cat then had a 8 month hiatus because Stengade 30 didn´t want to do more events with us after this initial great success; they claimed they had enough with their own Dancecore events; we did of course NOT agree. We went looking for a venue and some months later we found Krunch aka Rock Ama’r where The Black Cat would grow into a large kitten with a large dark family and many faithful supporters. Krunch was our cradle of birth, where we would throw monthly events with live acts from both Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and even Italy. So many concerts, DJ-nights and parties that changed our lives forever. After 2.5 years at Krunch we moved out to conquer Copenhagen with events at the larger clubs like The Rock, Pumpehuset, Basement, Kirken i Møllegade, Forbrændingen and many others. And in 2007 we even got our very own venue with Faust.

Throughout 20 years we´ve hosted close to 120 events with more than 120 different acts performing live. Our last event was our 17th birthday celebrated at Stengade with our friends and local heroes Parzival and Techne performing live. Since 2017 we´ve been doing many other wild things, things we will not mention here, because now we are back to celebrate the magic that has kept us together and alive and kicking for the last 20 years; the love and brilliant dark magic we share together in our darling kitten; as the family we´ve grown to become.

We love you all and we cannot wait to see you again, now, finally, to celebrate these last 20 years together.

For this magical evening we have a great feast prepared!! With live concerts, DJs, cake, and much more TBA as we get closer to the event.

As headliner this great evening we are very proud to present the amazing coldwave/darkwave/gothic SELOFAN from Greece. Supporting act will be danish goth rock/cold wave sensation THE NATURAL DISASTERS.

A few words about the amazing SELOFAN from themselves :
Selofan is a death-inspired love-story. The duo was formed 2012 in Athens. From the beginning they created their own musical enviroment and every time they offer us a glimpse into it, we become overwhelmed by the emotional intensity of their sound and words. In the last seven years they gave us five studio albums, each one of them possessing its own unique identity. Selofan avoid the comfort of settling in one sound style and just keep experimenting. Dreamy saxophone melodies find their way through strong drum machine beats, a new wave bass riff and powerfull haunted female vocals, singing or storytelling in different languages and presenting themselves in such a theatrical way, that each live performance is emotionally overwhelming. Selofan have their own musical and aesthetical identity, underlined by their artwork and videos and are meanwhile a household name among the fans of the genre.

SELOFAN from Greece is an amazing live band, some of us were so lucky to experience them as headliners at WGT this year; it was truly a mind-blowing happening. SELOFAN are a part of the new wave of awesome coldwave/darkwave bands which started with SHE PAST AWAY and LEBANON HANOVER. All fans of atmospheric and minimal old-school goth/darkwave/coldwave should definitely NOT miss this.

THE NATURAL DISASTERS from Copenhagen is the brainchild of Alioscha Serge, but live it is a stunning 7-piece band. A sublime mixture of goth rock, post-punk and cold wave! Live the band consists of members from bands such as Hola Ghost, Sloppy Wrenchbody, Fastpoholmen, Beurre Noir, Black Seagull and Stillborn!

All night, DJ’s from The Black Cat Family will set the dancefloor on fire with the best of goth, industrial, EBM, darkwave, synth, postpunk etc.

The anniversay/birthday party will take place at one of Copenhagen’s best caves – High Voltage – in the heart of Copenhagen, and only 2 minutes walk from the Central station. The darkly decorated venue fits perfectly to this feast!

Tickets will be available through – and at Sex Beat Records, Studiestræde 3, Cph. If you buy your ticket at Sex Beat Records, you will get a 20 kr. discount!
